Land & Community Acknowledgements
All.Can Canada’s Secretariat and network of members live, work, play, and learn across Canada, which are the territories of hundreds of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis nations. Our work is grounded in cultural humility, respectful engagement, Indigenous self-determination, and reconciliation.
The members of the All.Can Canada Secretariat live on the traditional territories of Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples, with Treaty 13 signed with the Mississaugas of the Credit, and the Williams Treaties signed with multiple Mississaugas and Chippewa bands; the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Stó:lō Coast Salish Peoples; the traditional unceded territory of the Syilx Okanagan Nation; and the traditional lands of the Anishinaabek, Haudenosaunee, Lunaapeewak, and Attawandaron peoples, lands that are connected with the London Township through Treaty 7 (Sombra Township Purchase) and the Dish with One Spoon Wampum Agreement.
African Ancestral Acknowledgement:
All.Can Canada acknowledges those who came to Canada as a result of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. We honour these ancestors of African origin and their descendants. We also recognise the anti-Black racism and other systemic injustices that Black communities, including those who have been here for generations and those who have settled more recently, continue to face within Canada’s healthcare systems.
EDI Statement:
All.Can Canada recognises the systemic injustices embedded within Canadian healthcare and commits to an ongoing process of relationship-building, listening, learning, and amplifying the evidence, opportunities, needs, strengths, and solutions of diverse and intersectional structurally underserved communities. We aim to create an inclusive environment and to contribute towards improving equitable cancer diagnoses across Canada.
